My name is Asa-Marie and I'm a crochet designer. I've been crocheting for about ten years now.
I love to crochet and have always felt that a crocheted item can really provide a lot of feeling - whether it's a lacy shawl that makes you feel a million dollars or a bow hair tie that makes you feel playful and fun, crocheted items always make you feel stuff.
So my goal with The Crafty Poppet is really to convey that sense of feeling within the crochet patterns I design and really pass on a sense of place for the pattern - hence "Crochet Patterns with a Difference". I like to make sure all of the design elements work together to provide a feeling, from the typography to the layout and the photographs - it works together to sell the story, for me it's not just about the content.
So I would definitely say that graphic design and typography has a big part to play in my inspiration for the way I make patterns; but so do the items themselves and the way they make you feel; after all I think that's what creates the excitement and the atmosphere that gets you all giddy to be making a new thing!
